In a plutocracy, the wealthy rule, but not always by being the elected leaders of the government. The group is chosen because of favorable factors such as military capability, wealth, race, political connections, religion, and education. This was reflected by the increased ability of the wealthy to significantly affect the nation's law-making and election processes, in tandem with the existence of the powerful oil, steel, and railroad monopolies.Īn oligarchy is a system of government in which a small group runs the government. Some modern economists and historians suggest that the United States was effectively plutocratic for the periods between the end of the Civil War (1865) and the start of the Great Depression (1929). The democratic concern of a plutocracy is that the wealthy will wish to maintain their power and, therefore, only represent the interests of the wealthy as opposed to people of all levels of education and income. Instead, plutocracies can gradually form by allowing sole access to essential political and educational resources that only the rich can afford. It is my opinion that the country is running a Neo-Classical style and that we are in a plutocracy due to the fact that those who have money can buy influence and get regulations that they want passed or not passed due to the amount of money that they have.A plutocracy may not be the result of a planned system of government. The main thing that you can see is that there is a balance in how the riches are being shared in the Classical theory where the Neo-Classical is more worried about the personal wealth being with the induvial. The chart below shows the difference between the two. One is the Classical and there is the Neo-Classical type.
What do I mean by ‘trickle-down’ policy with the economy? There are two different type of economic systems that can be used. So why would I say that in my opinion we are in a plutocracy? When you look at the way the country is being run right now, we see that the economy is running a trickle-down policy instead of working for everyone and those at the bottom don’t seem to have a voice.

Such people as President Roosevelt, the Kennedy family and others are all old school money. There are people in the Democratic Party that have been in the old school money as well. Trumps Grandfather tried to go back to Germany/Prussia only to be banished by royal decree due to the lack of military service.

While he is the President of the United States, he has been a failed businessman before he got into the political party that is the Republican Party. The first person I want to look at is Mr. A lot of that has gotten into places of power. They seem to both have a lot of ‘old school’ money in them. When you look at the Democratic and Republican Parties you can see there is a lot of money that is tied up there. The reason that I point this out is the fact that the people who are in politics now are often very well off and get into government to gain power and funds. The word plutocracy has the meaning of “ a system of government in which the richest people in a country rule or have power” (1). What is plutocracy? Why is the word so important today more important than ever? This is one of those things that people don’t like to hear the truth about because it challenges the main things that often are believed.
